Brown v Board class trial react

During the Brown v Board class trial, I found many things interesting. But some of the things that stuck out to me were the points made that there are actually some negatives of integration causing blacks to be turned into a minority inside of the classroom. In the time this took place there were more white people in general and blacks were the minority. In schools, the white went to one school and the blacks went to another which was far less sophisticated. Once this changed and the schools became integrated with both races it took the black kids away from people that were able to relate to them. It is important to be able to relate yourself to other people. It makes you feel as if you have something in common and can feel more comfortable. I did not even think about this point ever until it was brought up in class.

I just looked past this point and assumed it is great that everyone can go get an education together now (which it is). But there is a downfall because the black kids just became a minority in the school system, which could cause the black children to feel uncomfortable and not be able to fully apply themself to their learning. The only thing I could relate this to is going to church with my family and the church community where everyone has something similar. But if you were to put me in another church/different way of worshiping for whatever reason it would make me feel significantly more uncomfortable. Whether this is just having to deal with something new or separating myself from the people I'm comfortable with. I feel that the integration is a huge step in the correct direction, but becoming a minority in school as well will be another large roadblock to overcome.
