Band of Angels

Band of Angels

In the movie band of angles, the main character Amantha was born and raised in Kentucky. Her father was a wealthy plantation owner that owned slaves. Amanthas mother was born a slave and had a child with Mmanthas father the plantation owner. Later her mother died and then her father later died and at the burial sight, she started arguing with some of the men in charge. They found some paperwork that contained information about her being a slave because her mother was her father's property. This made her a part of the father's property. She got taken captive by the police and got put on a boat to be sent away and sold. She then got bought by a very wealthy man named Hamish Bond. He was a big part of the slave trade and bought Amantha. Hamish and Amantha had a hard time at first and could not get along because Amantha thought Hamish was a horrible person. Later he changed her mind because he showed a lot of kindness towards her.

Although she started to like and enjoy being around Hamish it seems to me as though it is not entirely genuine. This is due to the fact that he just spends a lot of money on her and does not really show affection in the same way he provides materialistic things for her. I think he knew she would like him if he impressed her with his money and did not really care about her. Later in the movie, he starts to show more affection toward her. This is because he thought she exempted who he was and felt like no one could accept him for how he is. Many people probably thought he was a horrible person for his participation in the slave trade. I guess if you disregard him being a part of the slave trade he is overall a good person and was loyal to her. He was very respectful of her and her position even with her being a slave she was still treated fairly by him and everyone else.
