During our town hall meeting, they touched on some very interesting topics. One of these topics that caught my attention was the separation of blacks and whites. This is due to the degree of separation that they experienced. I knew before this that they were separated but not to this scale. I did not know that they had specific stores and fountains and bathrooms. I could not imagine how this would feel. Getting discriminated against like this would not only feel bad at the moment this would be very desrutuctive to your self esteam and confidence because it feels horrible. The only thing I could relate this to is if you were to get bullied every day of your life and have to accept it as normal. (That didt happen to me just an example) This is amazing to me that they could take this much hate and still go about their lives. I feel like if I was brought over to a new area and was done so against my will kidnapping me, then getting treated like this would destroy me emotionally. If I would walk into a store today and the owner or employee tells me to leave because of the way I look, not only would my feeling towards that person change I would have a hard time not being defiant and pushing to figure out why? The thing about this that amazes me the most is that the blacks did not ever get super violent towards the whites. In some instances, they may have but for the majority, they were very peaceful.
