Bakke case react
In the Bakke case, he was a white higher scoring student. He was denied acceptance into a college due to a quota that was set in place for African Americans. The student that ended up getting accepted into the college in place of Bakke was a black and a lesser student. He scored worse, therefore, making him not as valuable. But instead of passing him along and taking the higher top-scoring student, they accepted him. All because he was black and they needed to fill a quota. I understand why they would make quotas a part of the administration process. They were probably trying to fix issues in history and give a chance to someone that has a history involving these issues. But I do not think that a quota should be a part of any administrative process. It is giving chances to people that have the same opportunities to earn it as anyone else. This just makes the world lazier and has easy entry to things that need to be worked for and be only accessed by the best. This is like giving the team that won the second place a trophy as well as the first. This does not make sense as the world has been going in this direction for a bit of time now and it needs to stop. This does not only allow people to feel entitled, it breeds lazy people that are now in positions where hard-working people should be. By giving someone that obviously did not do as well a huge reward that should have gone to a winner as rewards normally do. This creates a message that people should use race to get their way by using their minority status. Having an opportunity to win a life-changing chance to attend a school based on grades and high performance should breed competition and a healthy work ethic. Having a quota does the opposite making it a requirement for a set number to attend just based on race, not at all performance.
